A Reuters security adviser was killed in a missile attack on a hotel in Ukraine. The attack was carried out last Saturday. Reuters reported this information on Sunday.
Reuters stated:
“Six Reuters staff members were staying at the Safayar Hotel in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, to gather news about the war.”
Reuters further reported:
“Two Reuters journalists injured in the attack are in the hospital. One of them is in critical condition. However, the other three journalists are safe.”
Kramatorsk is the last major city under Ukrainian control in the Donetsk region. The city is often used as a base for humanitarian aid workers and foreign journalists.
Regarding the deceased security adviser, Reuters said:
‘He helped keep many of our journalists safe while gathering news in various parts of the world. He was a beloved colleague and friend.’
Ukrainian officials say:
“A Russian Iskander missile struck the hotel around 10:35 PM last Saturday. This damaged the hotel and the adjacent building.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned this attack. Referring to the Russian attacks on Ukraine since 2022, he said:
‘The world must not stop putting pressure on the terrorist country for all of this.’
Last Saturday, 18 civilians were killed in Russian attacks across Ukraine. Russian officials have said: “Six people were killed in Ukrainian attacks on Russia’s border region.”
Kyiv claims: “The country’s army has advanced further into Russia’s Kursk region.”
