Numerous individuals are grappling with occupational or psychological stress. Sleep eludes them entirely. Yet, rest is crucial during such times. Sleep offers a brief mental reprieve from these pressures. It can also leave you feeling somewhat rejuvenated. A power nap, in particular, can work wonders. This restorative slumber might occur in bed, while seated in a chair, beneath a tree’s canopy, or even roadside. However, railway tracks are certainly not an appropriate location for such repose. Nevertheless, an incident of this nature has transpired in India.”
A man fell asleep with an umbrella over his head in the middle of the railway tracks in Prayagraj city of Uttar Pradesh state. A video of this incident spread on the social media platform X. The video, posted yesterday, shows a train driver stopping the train after spotting the man on the tracks. Then he gets down from the driver’s seat, walks up to him, and requests him to move away from the tracks. However, the report doesn’t mention when this incident occurred.
Notably, the man wasn’t there with the intention of committing suicide. He found sleeping there quite comfortable.
The video posted on the social media platform X has been viewed nearly 800,000 times. Many people have also commented below it. One wrote – ‘Crazy’. Someone wrote that the person was ‘in a drunken state’. Another called for a serious investigation and proper implementation of rail safety. Someone jokingly wrote that the person was actually ‘trying to get his life back on track’.
Just this year, many train accidents have occurred across India. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said that a Sabarmati Express train derailed near Kanpur this month
‘Due to an object lying on the track’.
Another notable incident is that a YouTuber named Gulzar Sheikh used to place various objects on the railway tracks to gain publicity and put Indian Railways and passengers at risk. Later, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested him from Khandroli village in Uttar Pradesh state.
