India and Pakistan have reached a “complete and immediate ceasefire” after several days of deadly conflict involving fighter jets, missiles, drones, and artillery. World leaders welcomed this decision yesterday, Saturday.
The tension between the two neighboring countries began on April 22, following an attack by gunmen on tourists in Pahalgam in Indian-controlled Kashmir. 26 people were killed in that attack.
India alleged, without any investigation or evidence, that the attackers had connections with Pakistan. Pakistan firmly denied the accusation and called for an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam attack.
Following this incident, India launched drone and missile attacks on Pakistan. Civilian casualties were reported in these attacks.
Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that 24 attacks occurred across 6 locations in Pakistan. These attacks resulted in 33 Pakistani civilian deaths and 76 injuries.
