Pakistan has said that they have the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The country has warned that they reserve the right to respond against India in due time to avenge the violation of sovereignty and killing of civilians.
This statement was issued today, Wednesday, after a meeting of Pakistan’s National Security Committee. The meeting was chaired by the country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The statement said that Pakistan’s armed forces have been given full authorization to take retaliatory measures against India according to their own judgment.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has condemned India’s attack. They have expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the attack. Describing India’s attack as ‘provocative and cowardly’, Islamabad said that an appropriate response will be given to the terrible situation created by this incident.
“Islamabad says that at least 26 people have been killed and nearly fifty injured in India’s attack. In response, Pakistan launched an attack across the Line of Control last night. Delhi has said that 10 people were killed and 32 injured in Pakistan’s attack.”
The statement said that Pakistan’s military has firmly protected the territorial integrity of their country from Indian aggression.
Amid tensions following a recent gunmen attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, India launched missile attacks on six locations in Pakistan after midnight yesterday, Tuesday. Islamabad says that at least 26 people have been killed and nearly fifty injured in the attack. In response, Pakistan launched an attack across the Line of Control that same night. Delhi has said that 10 people were killed and 32 injured in this attack by Pakistan.
Pakistan has said that they have shot down five Indian warplanes and some drones. The warplanes were not allowed to enter Pakistani airspace.
